Our Story
The first time I met Rudy was at a Halloween party that his parents hosted in 2005. I was 20 and he was 21. After our first meeting, we hung out on several different occasions as friends, yet we both knew that we were meant for something more. There was definitely a "click" between us, but we didn't start dating until March of 2006.
The Proposal
During one of our extensive phone conversations early in the relationship, he brought up ideas for our future and how one day we would have a nice house and a family and the whole nine yards, how we would work to make it happen, and how happy we would be. He never asked me to marry him in so many words, we just knew that's what we were meant to do. Only after skimming through wedding magazines and online wedding communities did I start to feel like I missed a memory by not getting a proposal. He picked up on my semi-bummed vibe, and picked an incredibly memorable moment to make it official. A formal proposal didn't happen until September 1, 2011. While I was actually trying on a wedding dress that I purchased in 2008, he got my engagement ring (that has been sitting in it's box since 2008 as well) and asked me in no uncertain terms to marry him and be his wife.
The Planning
I originally began planning a wedding for October 25, 2008, but after a car accident that left us having to purchase a new vehicle, we were not able to afford it. As sad as it made me, we cancelled our plans and went on with life hoping that one day we would be able to have the day we both wanted.
In the Meantime...
Six years after our first meeting, we now have three beautiful children and are reigniting the desire to have the wedding we originally wanted, but now with a greater sense of understanding and respect for the meaning of marriage and what it represents to us.
